The Two Senior Officers Moments Prior to the Assailant Got Stunned

One senior officer who rushed to the aid of a fellow officer that was assaulted by a knifeman received the Monarch's Honor for Courage.

Sgt Tim Ansell grappled with twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown following he pressed a knife to the neck of his fellow officer Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown initiated the assault as the law enforcement personnel and their partner, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a motorist after a traffic accident in the area in mid-2023.

Brown knifed and cut both Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a electric weapon.

"Officer knifed," the constable was heard to say over his communication device.

Officer-mounted and vehicle camera video shared by the force showed Brown, that was clothed in black with a hood up, run up to Sergeant Foster from behind with a blade pointed forward.

He struck the policeman who tripped and went down to the pavement, before Sergeant Ansell stepped in and attempted to subdue him to the pavement although being repeatedly struck with the weapon.

Sergeant Ansell stated audibly: "I need help on my neck here, I got knifed in the throat."

Sergeant Ansell sustained two lacerations to his neck and more injuries to his limbs and body, whereas Sergeant Foster suffered slash wounds.

Authorities said Sgt Foster utilized his palms to control his fellow officer's blood loss before medical personnel came.

This most recent honor arrives after the law enforcement team received departmental Courage Honors in fall 2023 and the police federation award from the local union branch in spring 2024.

They additionally received a North West Bravery Award in summer 2024.
